MARE ISLAND — Touro University California will host its annual diabetes conference, “2022 Diabetes Update: High Management for Clinicians,” from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Sunday at the NorthBay Healthcare Green Valley Center, 4500 Business Center Drive, in Fairfield.
Dr. Jay Shubrook, a diabetes researcher and professor at Touro, will begin the conference with his presentation, “Starting CGM in Your Practice.” The conference will include more than a dozen presentations and six different experts in the fields of diabetes research and management.
“Among the stated objectives for the conference attendees are: Utilizing a patient-centered approach to treating patients with diabetes across the spectrum, implementing (Americans with Disabilities Act) treatment guidelines and apply standards of care . . . in daily practice, discussing appropriate public health strategies to address the challenge of diabetes mellitus, applying evidence-based approaches to the selection of new and current medications for patients with diabetes, discussing unique features of diabetes management in special populations, discussing approaches to novel mechanisms to chronic metabolic diseases, and utilizing interprofessional teams to manage diabetes in the primary care setting,” a Touro statement said.
