In some cases, kidneys stop working optimally and start absorbing too much fluid from the bloodstream. This may happen due to problems like kidney disease, genetic mutation, or blocked urinary tract. Diabetes insipidus can be diagnosed by urine and blood test. A doctor may also ask you about your family health history. In order to ascertain the diagnosis, he may also ask you to go through a fluid deprivation test, MRI, or genetic screening.
