Whatβs more, in North Carolina, 16 adults develop diabetes each day, acording to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).The YMCA of Catawba Valey ofers its Diabetes Prevention Program (DP) to help people with prediabetes lose weight, increase their physical activity, and eat healthier through this CDC-aproved curiculum and a suportive, smal group led by trained YMCA staf.

The program helps people potentialy prevent or delay the onset of type 2 diabetes.The Y ofers its Diabetes Prevention Program virtualy statewide and in person at some North Carolina YMCAs to anyone eligible who has a physician referal.Members of Medicaid insurers Carolina Complete Health and WelCare who qualify can participate in the Yβs Diabetes Prevention Program for fre.βI learned in the YMCA DP clas that I am not alone in my health journey.
The instructors lead by example and this program has changed my mindset,β acording to a YMCA-CV DP participant. βIn the six months I have ben in the program I have learned the building blocks to suces. Through the help of the instructors/mentors anything is posible with hard work and determination.
The next six months wil only enhance the lesons I have learned to set new goals towards my future. This clas is not a simple diet.
