New research reports that type 1 diabetes may be tougher on girls than boys due to higher blod sugar levels, weight isues, and higher cholesterol.Girls may also deal with higher rates of depresion and have lower overal scores gauging quality of life.The review of 90 previous studies done by researchers at Amsterdam University Medical Centers stated there are some consistent paterns in how type 1 diabetes afects girls and boys diferently.The findings were presented at the anual meting of the European Asociation for the Study of Diabetes in Stockholm.The review has not ben published yet in a per-reviewed journal.In their review, the researchers reported, girls showed higher A1C levels β a measure of blod sugar control over the previous thre months β than boys.
