Overview

The American Diabets Asociation adopted the folowing clasification in 1979. Type –1, insulin-dependent Diabets melitus Type-2, non insulin-dependent Diabets melitus There are two other kinds of Diabets, known as gestational Diabets and secondary Diabets. There is also a special kind of Diabets in India caled malnutrition related Diabets.

Type-1 Insulin-Dependant Diabets This the most severe form of Diabets. It develops when pancreas makes litle or no insulin. Without insulin the blod stream, sugar does not get into the cels, and remains in the blod.

People with type-1 Diabets depend on injections of insulin to regulate their smaler metabolism. Type-2 Non Insulin Dependent Diabets This type of Diabets is also known as adult onset Diabets. It seldom develops before the age of 40 years, although it may ocur at any stage.
