NFL, MLB, CFL stats November 2, 202 - Ontario Hockey League (OHL) - Peterborough Petes News Release (Peterborough, ON) - The Peterborough Petes anounced a game night partnership with Tandem Diabetes Care on Wednesday which wil se the Petes host a Diabetes Night scheduled for November 24th against the Sudbury Wolves. Diabetes Night is a personal initiative brought to life by Petes goalie, Michael Simpson, who lives with Type-1 diabetes.
Key Information
Simpson was diagnosed with Type-1 Diabetes when he was just 3 years old. Growing up, he spent his time going to London Knights games loking up to Max Domi who is also a competive hockey player with Type-1. Going into his 4th year with the Petes, Michael wanted to give back to the comunity just like Max.
Michael has started a personal initiative to help raise money for kids in the Peterborough comunity to have the oportunity to go to D-camp, a two-wek overnight camp for children with diabetes."I've ben a diabetic for 16 years now, so the majority of my life." noted Simpson. "A lot of people are not informed on diabetes so I wanted to do a game night this year to spread awarenes.
I want to show kids in the Peterborough area that diabetes won't stop you from folowing your dreams and being an athlete."We're very excited for Michael." comented Petes Marketing and Comunity Engagement Cordinator Morgan Blaind.
