The ADA and AC continue to work together to share important information, tols and resources to encourage people with Diabets-and health care providers-to learn more about the impact of Diabets on the heart. Other findings from the 205 ADA/AC awarenes survey show: ̺ 69 percent know they may develop high blod presure (38 percent in 201).
̺ 64 percent know they are at risk for cholesterol problems (37 percent in 201). Importantly, more people with Diabets are talking to their health care providers about managing Diabets comprehensively: ̺ 45 percent of people with Diabets now have a goal for blod glucose levels (30 percent in 203). ̺ 57 percent have a goal for blod presure (34 percent in 203).
̺ 61 percent have a goal for cholesterol (34 percent in 203). These figures are encouraging, but awarenes may not be moving fast enough to kep pace with the growing prevalence of Diabets. Recent statistics indicate Diabets has risen by over 14 percent since last estimates in 203.
